      Hi, Rod again.

Can anyone advise on if 95 unleaded is suitable for an unmodified 1911cc L15?

Totally unrelated, any ideas on best place to fit outside mirrors? Not keen on drilling holes in the old girl.

      Happy new year.

        Hi Rod

95 unleaded is fine but you may want to use a lead additive with it – not essential, I’ll let others explain.

My preference on mirrors is to use a door edge mounted mirror but you can also get them to fix on the front door handles. Some cars have them on the wings but they seem to be rather a long way away from the driver.

        Happy new year

Good evening Patrick, We got our car in from N.Z. and it still had half a tank of fuel on board.

I know they use 91 out there and have been worried about filling her up, I’ll give it a go,and

          buy some additive as well.

          Cheers Rod.

Door handle mounting brackets is the most stable place. Mirrors that clamp on the doors are prone to fall off with the vibration……

Thanks David, do you know if the brackets are available through the club?

                Hi Rod

Yes the door handle brackets (you just fit standard 8mm motorcycle mirrors to the bracket) from a club Member, Mike Bigland Mobile 07812023896 £30 per pair, mike@paradeigma.plus.com, I have them on both my cars a fantastic invention. My mirrors (motorcycle mirrors 8mm diameter) were purchased from Demon Tweeks for about £14 per pair?

I run both my cars on standard Fuel with SPITFIRE Fuel Catalyst inserted in the tank approx £40 or purchased at NEC 23/24/25  March 2018 £25 each. The small Spitfire is inserted into the tank.  diamond shaped approx 30mm long it will boost your Octane 95  >99/100 they come supplied in a plastic mesh pocket which I melted a lenth of stripper plastic through the mesh (small blow lamp) so enabling removal from tank. I have them fitted to both cars and have completed many, many miles without any problems.

                        Hi Rod

By the way, I forgot to tell you the lifetime of the Spitfire catalyst is Guaranteed for up to  (I think) 60,000 miles without replacing.  A great product, such a small piece of combined metals to produce a proven & tested piece of brilliant engineering.

I bought these mirrors at £14.40 a pair https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/large-round-chrome-stalk-mirror-265mm though it does say ‘out of stock’ atm but worth a phone call to see if they are expecting more.

                            Hi Davy

Looking at your Spitfire catalyst link I think it’s 6000 miles, but how would you know it was or wasn’t working?

I can confirm the “Car Builder Solution” mirrors have been out of stock for about 12 months.

I finally gave up waiting and bought a pair from another e-Bay seller at £6.99 per pair and they are excellent.  The eBay item number: 220962357317

                                  Hi Patrick

The statement this company makes and the high insurance liability cover from Lloyd’s would mean if it did not hold up, this Company & Lloyd’s would both be liable to a prison sentence for Corporate fraud.

The company states 100,000 miles or 10 years warranty but the Insurance liability covers up to 6,000 miles which is still good for around £40 and this product will also stop your fuel from going stale after long periods of the car not being driven. My friend was an RAF engineer and told me this product was used in military vehicles long before it’s availability to the public.

                                  Keep Well
