Has anyone had problems separating the gearbox from the engine.

I removed the front section which houses the starter handle and removed the circlip. The main shaft came away easily enough as did the four 21mm bolts and the clutch shaft which holds the thrust bearing. The gearbox and block started to separate but after about an inch (25mm) it locked solid. Have I missed something? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

        Kevin,

You do not mention having removed the aluminium plate (456474) which is underneath the diff housing and secured between the engine and gearbox by 2 short and 2 much longer 10mm dia fixings requiring a 17mm A/F spanner/socket.

        block 2

That said, I would not expect you to get 25mm of movement with that item in place so you may have already tackled it.

Otherwise, I cannot think of any other fixings

Perhaps the top rear of the gearbox casing is fouling on the flywheel/clutch assembly ….?  If so you need to lower the box to get suitable clearance – or remove the flywheel.

        B……………
