Having made a new Headlining for my Light 15 and almost finished fitting it (not the easiest job I’ve done!), I want to recover the sunroof section next.  However, I do not want to copy what was there before (fitted in the 90’s I believe) as I’m sure there is a better way.  There are wooden strips along the sides and rear which the material can be stapled to, and these areas are not visible when fitted, so I can simply copy that.  I have 2 questions for the front region:

The screws which allow you to remove and replace the sunroof on the front corners – Mine were covered up by the material being simply cut and tucked in again.  This never looked right and was messy.  Is there a better way other than simply leaving the screw heads on display and cutting around them?

The material at the front edge was held in by a thin strip of wood simply jammed into the gap between the wooden strip screwed along the front and the metal front edge.  This kept on coming out previously.  Also, to cure a small amount of water soaking into the material, I glued on a strip of rubber on the front outer surface of the sunroof; this worked well but looked unsightly.  I have a memory of seeing a diagram of the sunroof assembly with a rubber strip apparently in the above mentioned gap, but I’m not sure and can’t find the diagram.  Ideas?
