Hi Paul- That light which you can use as a high beam indicator may well have been a high beam indicator. To remove the spark advance you need to take the nut and washer off that are behind the dashboard. Once you have it out you will see how it comes apart. But, actually if you undo the chrome nut on the front of the dash, the knob will come out. It’s just a little easier to remove the whole thing.
