The stops that prevent the bonnet halves moving independently along the hinge are missing from my car and the only other Traction on the isle of Wight doesn’t have them either.

In consequence, my bonnet halves move forward over the grille every time I drive the car.

My last Traction had them but as I sold it back in 1993, I can’t remember what they look like.

I’ll have a go at fabricating them if I can find out what they look like and their dimensions.

Please can anyone help me with this ?

Traction bonnet parts diagramThis diagram is taken from the parts manual on the TOC website. It is not clear but Paul’s photos help a lot. The screw is H821-100 which is described as 5 x 14 with 2 flats – and the square thing is  298.817 described as 16 x 12 x 4 with a 6.5mm hole in the middle. I don’t see the M5 nut on the diagram.

I’m sorry to trouble you again, Paul, but whilst you have the bonnet off please may I have a picture of the hole in the bonnet hinge strip that it goes through ?

                  Hi David
<p style=”text-align: left;”>On my car (1950 BL) the bonnet halves slide on to a chrome strip which projects at either end. This chrome strip sit on the top of the radiator at the front and on the bulkhead at the rear where it is covered and fixed in place by two chrome cover pieces. The head of the bolt merely slides into the same slot and down to wherever you have the bonnet position set. I have attached some pictures which I hope help to explain this.</p>

                    Sorry David
I’m having trouble putting the photos up.

                    I’ll try again!
