      Hi
I am at another sticking point. Has anyone removed the inner bearing in the hub on the stub axle. I have everything off except I cannot work out or with force, get the hub and inner bearing off the stub axle. I know there is yet another special tool but I am sure I heard that it was not necessary for this particular job.

Any hints or tips ❓ ❓

No worries, I had a cup of tea and a think and went back out to the garage and got my blow torch and a bigger hammer. Both came off without to much bother.

But what is the best method of putting the new bearings back in. I plan to install the hubs onto the front suspension with the inner bearing installed. Then I assume I will push the stub axle through and then using the nut, screw it on pulling the stub axle into the inner bearing.

Is that right, or am I missing something.

Now for lots more cleaning…. 😀

You’re not missing anything- you can knock the new bearing into the hub with a block of wood, then the shaft goes into it and is tightened by the bearing ring nut. Easy with the right tools. If you have a shielded bearing and sometimes they come that way, you can pop out the shield on the side that faces outboard with a small screwdriver so the bearing gets the proper grease load. The inboard facing shield can stay.

Cheers – I bought the sealed units from CAS so hoping they are maintenance free other than the normal grease going in.

I put them in the hubs and now just waiting for the rubbers gaiters to arrive so I can start mounting everything back on the car.
