      Greetings from the woods.
My wife’s car recently died and so she is using mine and I am out posing in the Citroen. Great weather for the car but it is forcing me to sort out a few things that I have been ignoring and your assistance would be appreciated. There is meant to be a bracket between the exhaust and the engine. Could some one give me some dimensions or a photo so I can get one made up please. Also I have been told there should be a heat shield between the dynamo and the exhaust. Mine is missing. Again a photo would mean I could make one up. Thanks in advance…..Peter

This should be good for the exhaust bracket – thanks to Den when he was helping me with my car.

Given the shape of that particular shield and the lining material it may be simpler to just buy one at 20.57 euro http://www.citroen-traction-avant.com/Content/DetailArt.aspx?COD=308.334&SPR=4&AKTSEITE=044&RETURNURL=http://www.citroen-traction-avant.com/Content/C_Produkte.aspx?SPR=4&KATSEITE=044

Edit: tripyrenees beat me to it (but mine is marginally cheaper πŸ™‚

Trouble is with Franssen though is that they have specific days to ship to France, so sometimes I have to wait a few weeks, where CAS post the same day πŸ˜‰

                  Peter,
Very important to have the front bracket fitted as it prevents movement of the down pipe, which if permitted could result in a cracked cast iron exhaust manifold!
The flexing of the engine and exhaust is then transferred to the rubber exhaust mounts “further down” the exhaust system.

Thank you all for your help. I have no excuse to avoid doing these jobs now. Infact the exhust sounds like a must do. Thanks again……..Peter

My stay is missing too, ditto the front bracket on the downpipe, which is getting a trifle thin anyway and has already a weld near to the flange onto the main pipe. Where does the stay fix to on the engine/transmission casing? Does anyone have a photo?
I assume that my 1953 Slough Light 15 takes the standard downpipe as advertised by the likes of CTA. Jose Frannsen, etc? Can anyone give me an idea which length stay I need?
                      Many thanks
                      Bryan

The far bottom (corner) bolt that connects the gearbox tot he engine.

I thought I had lost that bolt when I put it all back together, only to find I had put it safely on the exhaust bracket. πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

I’ve been blissfully unaware of the need for this bracket for the 18 years I’ve had my car but this scared me enough to add it to my Jose Franssen shopping list. It arrived with the other stuff 2 days later. It’s much more substantial then i was expecting. I wonder what else I’m missing that I don’t know about!

Take a few photos of the engine bay and we will have a “look whats missing” quiz.

I had this yesterday when I opened up my bonnet to the local club – 20 guys all pointing and twitching in French. πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

You should have seen them when my starter motor failed at the 80th, Tim had to do ‘crowd control’
