Has any one come across a 6V LED Light that I can use as a third high level brake light.
      12 V are everywhere but I can’t find 6V
Someone must have come up with an answer or do you have to build one up on a board
as suggested to me by Maplins, only problem is I’m not an electronics expert.

I want to stick to the 6Volt system

      Thanks for advice
      Chris

Are they required by law in the UK – rear brake lights on a Traction seem to be pretty good really.

Not keen on LED lights as most you can buy off the shelf are awful, you need to spend some money to get decent LED complete units and as you say 6 volt is a little more difficult.

Go 12 volt and never look back 😆 😆

They are OK when looking directly at them but from the side they are not so good.

Hence, I think you need a specific LED unit designed for that particular task (indicator, brakes etc) and not just direct bulb replacement.

You also need to use Red led behind Red lenses and look for the widest ‘angle’ available. 30degree (of which a lot are) is to narrow they need to be much wider.

BTW the high level brake light is not required on a TA in the UK but given the volume of traffic (never mind the quality of driving), very desireable.

Here is a 6 volt one ready to instal http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/6-volt-led-3rd-brake-light and another https://parts.modelastore.com/show_Product.asp?ID=4355

I put a third stop light in my 11B back in the 80s and just put a 6 volt bulb in it. Haven’t been hit yet. The funny thing is, aftermarket third stop lights were easy to find back then and not easy today, I guess because all cars now have them.

I have a J & L Enterprises 6v LED fitted to my 11 Familiale. It works really well and is easy to remove if you want original for a show etc. Details here: http://jandlenterprise.com/products/brakelighter.htm
I also fitted 6v LED bulbs to side lights, brakes and indicators (along with suitable control unit). These are a huge improvement and are visible from a wide angle. Bought from http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/
Other advantage of LED is much reduce current drain on electrical system. Peter

Much to go on and investigate
You’ve solved a problem I’ve been thinking about for some time
                          Cheers

Regarding removing the lights for originality and judging purposes, I’ve been doing this long enough to know that when you add any sort of safety device to a car that never had them such as seat belts, turn signals, stop lights, windscreen washers or four way flashers, they are irrellevent for judging purposes. That’s the way it is here anyway.
