I am hoping I will illuminate this problem with my new water pump and new gearbox coupling seals (a mix of water and gearbox oil) but just in case has any one done anything about the poor drainage from the Front Axle Cradle. My cradle is brand new so painted well but it is bound to pick up moisture and water from the street.

I could drill but didn’t want to open up bare metal 😕

I would and I have drilled drain holes. Not only on the cradle but also under the door sills, water gets in at the semaphores and has no where to go, that is why Slough built Tractions have such a rust problem there compared to the French built models.

Isn’t there a drain hole in the centre of the cradle toward the rear? There’s one in my 11BL which I found after removing years of oily mud.

There is but they are not the lowest point. This fluid is from my water pump leakage. So i may put in a small drainage hole to make sure this new cradle does not end up like the original one, totally solid with oil and mud.
