The outers can be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled. Not hard to do. You can turn the pin in its seat to find a new wearing spot and all should be well. The inners can be done as well, turn the pin 90 degrees and reassemble.
Thanks Ian. I thought I had read somewhere that they could be done. I think they may be the reason the steering was so heavy on our car. Had a day hitting the body prep today.
Thanks Dave I saw elsewhere your love of this grease. I thought it was a good idea too. Never really looked at the front suspension and driveshafts up until now. I am amazed the driveshaft outer joints last any amount of time really. Open to the elements and road dirt. Going to leave them for now as they seem ok, will just clean and grease everywhere. As with all projects I have started far more than I intended and am now struggling to get the jobs completed for drive it day. I think I will miss that if I am honest. A mixture of work and family mean several weekends are gone. These pictures show current state of the body. My original plan was to do just the rain gutters and respray just the roof……………………
