That ‘Quillery’ steering wheel has seen better days……

Go on Larry, it’s cheap enough, you know you want to save it. Pay for James’s flight and I bet he’ll come over and weld it for you, cheaper than shipping it to the UK 😆

I’ve seen this car, and was considering it as a donor for a temporary motor swap when the owner was looking to part it locally. I saw it with a local shop owner who restores 2CVs, and he also passed on it as he thought it was too much effort for a personal project. Considering the projects I’ve seen him undertake this speaks volumes.

The rust is bad and the paint is poor. The first quote from a resto shop was 400 hours for metal repair/replacement and paint. The paint, while shiny, is a quick job with lots of evidence of shortcuts. I hope it gets saved, but this will be a challenging project for someone.

You should have seen my 11B when I bought it in 1983. Mine has enough metal welded into it to call it a replica. This thing is brand new by comparison. I should try to scan the old photos and post them. I am tempted by this but I have my hands sort of full with the 11BL I bought last year.
