The water tube in the head. In or out?

        Hi Larry,

It has always been considered that it is best to have a tube in. Why would Citroen go to the expense of fitting one, if they didn’t think it was necessary. The tube, provided it is fitted correctly, concentrates water around the valve guides to avoid them getting over-heated. The late Fred Annells insisted they should be fitted and actual reproduced them in brass, rather than the original steel; so I bow to his superior knowledge.

I have heard from different people, Roger Williams for one who don’t like the tube in the head. I made one out of copper 30 years ago and it’s worked well, but when someone like Roger says no tube, I have to think about it. I have the head off my 11B to be redone and am thinking about taking it out after discussing it with him.
