I have just purchased a 1938 Traction Light 12. from a family of a man recently deceased. The family do not know the oil history of the car. The dipstick shows oil at Min, should I drain the oil from sump and refill with new or would I have to renew filter ( if a filter exist ) where is the filter located on a 1628 cc engine.

        Hi

There is no oil filter, that is why it is important to change the oil frequently ,I have been using Castrol Classic XL30 but there are probably better/cheaper alternatives.
I know the previous owner was very particular a bought this, hopefully there will be more knowledgeable comments follow,

Steve Reed from Traction Owners Club Helpline has sorted me out. I must say Steve has helped me several times with very helpful information regarding Tractions, and so amazingly quick with a reply.
What a great, great club with a such a good set up, regarding their very well managed helpline, much appreciated once again.
