      Hello
I wonder if any one can help me ?
      I had my car about 3 years a 1952 french 11 b.
I was driving when i had to do a 3 point turn and when i tried to straighten up it would not the steering seemed to jamb
I had to get out and physically push the wheels strait and then it seem to drive o.k.
Do you know what the problem could be.
      Regards

        hi 2353,
        i have never experienced this.
        a couple of questions –
Does it happen every time you put the steering on full lock or was that a one off event?
Does it happen on both left and right lock?

        Assuming it does it repeatedly…
it could be any of the ball joints or the rack. It won’t be in the steering column itself or it would happen before you got to full lock.
If there’s nothing obvious stuck on track rods or the ball joints – like a twig or a stone, then it would have to be the rack or the top or bottom ball joints.
To find out which you would have to separate things – the easiest and most effective step would be to separate the track rod ends from the hubs and see which one sticks where.
If it is something sticking, then it may free up with a good squirt of grease from a decent grease gun – if it’s a top or bottom ball joint that is. But it could be a good idea to take them apart to clean and grease them – for which you’ll need the tools. If it is the rack, then it will need stripping I think.

Sorry not to be more specific.
Let us know the outcome. Thanks
        Chris

          Hi Chris
Thank you for your reply,it has happened twice on the wright lock but not all the time.
I have checked underneath and can not see anything jamming it is a little bit stiff one lock when pushed right round to full lock and pull back again.
          Regards

            Hi 2353
So, it’s going to need some dismantling. Do you have tools?
Would you happen to be in West Sussex?
            Chris
