Ian,
If you were to consider volunteering for “Stand Duty” entry is free, as is parking, on the days that you attend (provided that the organizer accepts your offer to volunteer).
As the name implies, “Stand Duty” is spending time on the stand, answering questions about the TA, “encouraging” new members to join the ToC, meeting other ToC members, handing out old copies of “Floating Power”, Smiling, telling stories about your car, cracking jokes, supplying unlimited beer to the webmaster, the list just goes on……
The NEC is adjacent to Birmingham International Airport (BHX).
Check out the flight costs on Skyscanner http://www.skyscanner.net/ and you may be able to fly in and fly out in a day.
failing that i can recommend the Briar Rose https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/hotels/england/west-midlands/the-briar-rose which is where you’ll find me.
It’s central Birmingham, next to New St Railway station (20 min from the NEC) and by the German Christmas Market that they hold in November.
Questions?
