    Hi Larry,

    Unless your speedo glass is dirty, it has to be either a bad connection on the live or earth or a dodgy or 12V bulb.

    Check the bulb directly on the battery.  If it is OK, take wires, +ve and -ve, directly from the battery to the light socket and see what happens. If it’s OK, remove one at a time and see which is the bad connection/broken or damaged wire.

    If the bulb is OK but connecting wires directly from the battery does not give you a bright light, it could also be a poor connection between bulb and bulb holder or bulb holder and instrument case.
