Agree about it being time consuming, well much more so than than dumping a bottle of something in the tank before refuelling. I reckon you could use a 25L container at most. Only hazardous, in my opinion, if one is careless, uninformed, an idiot, or a combination of any of these. The jury seems to be still out as to the efficiency of these ethanol defeating additives.
