Well I could have been led a merry dance up the wrong path. Checked fuel system, pressurised tank etc and some fuel goes into filter and stays there, The glass bowl before the pump is full and if I carry on cranking it fuel comes out of the small copper pipe sticking out of the inlet manifold.  Disconnected pipe entering carburettor and fuel flowing so think fuel system is ok.  So what now me thinks. As I was thinking this I put my hand on the coil, my that was rather hot after only a few cranks. So thinking cap on. The coil checks out okish doing resistance checks but the capacitor does not. So I may have found the culprit.

Unfortunately cannot find any details on the capacitor. The coil is a COL 201, I cannot find any detail of what capacitor to use with this coil. So will order a new coil and a capacitor that looks like the current one. Suitable coils are obviously COL 201 and Lucas equivalent DLB101. Now the DLB101 capacitor seems to be DCB 101c. So will sort those out and take it from there.
