      Hi everyone,

The president of our local Traction club here in Perigeux has an immaculate 6 cylinder French built car which he is hoping to convert from 6 to the far more exciting 12 volts and has asked us if we know where he can source a suitable 12 volt dynamo. I had a look under the bonnet and it seems that the arrangement is quite different from the 4 cylinder cars with the cooling fan mounted on the generator. I am not sure whether the 6 cylinder cars sold in the UK were 12 volt Lucas and the same as the Light 15 in which case it may be possible to adapt the drive arrangement. Alternatively, it may be possible to locate a 12 volt direct replacement although there is no mention of such on the spares site. Any guidance please would be appreciated.

        Hi Mike,

I have a Slough 6 that I have fitted a new 12v alternator that came from Fosseway Performance, not cheap but it is new, fits and works well.

        Dynators (Dynamo Conversion)

        Part number is FPDCIT002

        Regards Philippe.

          Hi Philippe,

Many thanks for your kind response.

Yes the price is rather eye watering but I shall pass the info on and if he wants to proceed, I can help him with the details. The unusual fan arrangement makes this a rather rare animal I suppose.

          Best Regards,

          Mike.
