The only 12 volt Traction I have is my cabriolet Mick and as the donor Light15 for the DS19 engine and 4 speed box came with an alternator already fitted and also as it is my cab is a saloon conversion I stayed with that. The Dynator is very expensive but for someone with a rare 12v Traction it may be worth it to retain the look of originality.

They also offer “Lucas” style Dynators at a slightly lower price. See:

I wonder why they offer the French style? There weren’t that many French made Tractions that were 12volt. My RHD Legere is 6 volt. It must be quite a high tooling cost to make them just for French TA owners that would like to or may have converted to 12 volts. Maybe the price will drop in a couple of years if their stock doesn’t move well.

My alternator was around €180 so this is double the cost purely to “Look” original.

              Nice looking unit though

The manufacturer is here: http://www.wosperformance.co.uk/products/dynators/ although only the “Lucas” models are mentioned.

The Traction model appears to be different from these as it has an 80W output, rather than the 50W of the Lucas models.

Unless you really want to keep that ‘dynamo’ look an alternator is more cost effective
