Recently I’ve noticed that the brake lights are very dim. They have adequate grounds, the wires have not changed. The brake light switch? It is original and likely is showing its age. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks! I have repaired a switch on a friend’s 11B by grinding out the rivets and put it back together using small screws such as can be found at a hobby shop catering to flying models. So that is what I will most likely do.

I’m thinking that there is a short circuit somewhere- When I connected the two brake light switch wires, there was some sparking and the lights were still just as dim. When driving the car and with my foot on the brake, the ammeter goes immediately to the negative side, off the gauge almost. The left side light is on but dim, the third light in the rear window is dim, the right side, nothing. Oh what fun!

I found it- the right side brake light bulb had the metal part broken away from the glass. All is well.
