It’s time to check and replace the antifreeze. I’m not confidant enough that I won’t be taking things apart to invest in the waterless stuff so I need to use the Inorganic Additive Technology (IAT) stuff. (Must not the Organic Additive Technology (OAT) – or HOAT or NOAT).

Most IAT antifreeze is Ethylene Glycol based and is very toxic – making responsible disposal a bit difficult (I must have killed loads of rats chucking it down the drain in the past – is that a bad thing?). There’s a non-toxic alternative which is Propylene Glycol based. Citroen Classics sells 5L of pre-mixed coolant for 24 quid plus delivery – or for a few quid more you can get it neat as Fernox Alphi 11 from plumbers merchants – has anyone tried it?

        Hi Chris

I have this product in my Traction for a few year now and find it very good, keeps its colour and  never turns dirty. I recently changed the water pump and drained the coolant into a clean tray and then returned it back after fitting the pump, it was  as good as new.

I bought mine from Citroen Classics, but you may be able to sourced it cheaper elsewhere.

          Thanks Davy – sounds promising.
