Can someone please tell me in laymans terms how to attach pictures to a post
………….
Image attachment settings are:
– Max 10 Images per post
– Total Size of all attachments per post < 50Mib
– Max size of each image < 256Kb
– Max Image Dimensions 1024px x 600px
The only attachments we can have are images aren’t they?
If so then why is the total size of attachments allowed much greater than the total size of 10 images or have I miscalculated?
We can’t have bmp files though.
Yes, you can attach any mime type file (See:http://www.sitepoint.com/web-foundations/mime-types-complete-list/ for a full list of Mime types.
However the Mime type is checked so if a file with the extension “.pdf” isn’t a pdf it will be rejected.
As far as the total size of all attachments is concerned, this may be a default value, I don’t recall changing it following our discussion on the number of attachments that were permitted.
If there is a need for larger attachment sizes, then just let me know.
The Forum software also supports “Secure Downloads”, however that option is currently “off”.
CORRECTION:
Only the following file types can be attached as images
Bmp not in list
256kb very small for an attachment
Further update:
See attachment screen shot of permitted attachments
Again, can be modified if required……
Which attachment screenshot?
I am unable to post any pdf’s – they are always refused. Consequently I use Adobe X Pro to convert themn to an image and then have to reduce the filesize and dimensions to get them accepted for the forum. I use Adobe Acrobat X Pro to create pdf’s or try to post those from I have got from elswhere – none are accepted.
So when is a pdf not a pdf?

As an example the attached picture is 374 Kb 700px x 525px
See attached list

This time with attachment!
You must remember to select the “add file” button after selecting the picture!!!!!
BTW, I have also turned “on” the “thumbnail” option….
So as you can see from the list only image files can be uploaded.
Do you want me to add pdf files?
