Hi, I have a 1953 11BL. I’m trying to figure out the correct diameter for the front and rear brake drums. My on line searches have resulted in conflicting information. Does anyone happen to know the answer to this question? Thanks very much.
The workshop manual specifies drum sizes.
A pdf version is available for download in the technical area of the members only part of the forum.
Better still, the Club also has brand new manual and spare parts catalogue reprints for sale, much easier to have a hard copy to study. Contact Ian Harvey….

Thanks Bernie. Since I posted this, I did a more careful search in the technical area and I think I found the answer. Looks like the front drums are 12 inches in diameter and the rear drums are 10 inches in diameter. I also found another reference which seemed to indicate that earlier BL’s had 10 inch diameter drums on the front as well. Appreciate the info regarding the reprints, will contact Ian about that.
Yes, those are the nominal diameters but the manual also states the precise maximum permissable revised diameters should the drums be worn or machined to rectify wear.
And, yes again, pre-war small bodied cars did indeed have 10″ front and rear.

Hello,
I’m new to the TOC and have not yet located the pdf workshop manual referred to in this thread. Where exactly do I have to go to find it?
With thanks,
Andrew
Andrew,
A 6-year-old would probably access it in half the time it usually takes me, however ……

…. and a 6-year-old would not have had all the additional gibberish in the above message. Hey-ho, say larvae.

Bummox! I’m off to find a 6-year-old.
Thanks, Bernie. I’d been looking in the right place but not identified it. I really needed the help of that 6-year-old. Still, I have it now.
