Long, long ago I was crossing the North Sea on the ferry from Harwich to Holland. I had a drink or two with a party of British Army soldiers who were on a mission to conquer the Dutch mountains on the far side of Holland. The reason was the usual story – because they were there – and because it was funny. As it happened we were on the same boat for the return trip. Were they successful? No, they had not even reached the mountains. Having spent rather too long in the first bar they stopped at, they didn’t have time to sober up and complete the mission. So they stayed in the bar…
If you want to do better than that the Dutch Mountain Rally may be for you.
The organisers, Lisette and Wiljen, asked in previous F-Ps for those interested to register with them. They have now emailed everyone who did as follows:
“Some time ago you sent us a mail indicating interest in joining the rally in May 2017.
The latest edition Floating Power with the rally details and booking form is out and will drop/ has dropped in the UK post boxes this week.
Since the last edition of the Floating Power we have already received 50 initial reservations/expressions of interest, including yours of course.
If you are still interested in joining us for the rally could you send us the booking form as soon as possible at Lisette.smits5@outlook.com?
Could you also let us know if you will be paying in pounds or in Euros? This will help us sort out the administration.
If paying in pounds sterling please transfer the complete amount to TOC club on booking ….
If paying in euros please pay a 25% deposit on booking via bank transfer …. the remainder please before the 31st of January.”
Costs, including details of the early-bird discount are in F-P along with the booking form. Costs do not include the ferry. Places are limited and early indications are that demand is high so if you want to do this, learn from the British Army and don’t delay.
I’m looking forward to it.
