After 32 years without a Traction, I’ve just taken the plunge and bought a 1951 11BL in France.

The rubber boots on the outer driveshafts have split on both sides. My previous 1952 11BL didn’t have these boots and with regular and copious greasing didn’t seem to suffer without them.

I’ve seen many other Tractions functioning without them.

Are they absolutely essential or can I just cut them off, at least in the short-term ?

        You’ll be OK without them.
