A friend had problems with a 123 so changed it for a CSI. Also made in Holland and I understand it as a bit of a 123 copy but made to work with a Lucas base. Denis Welch Motorsport (race Healys) are the font of all knowledge on them if anyone interested.

Jon did you buy your dizzy from Denis Welch as they specialise in Healey 3000’s, or did they source one with the correct advance curve?

Chris T replied that he is no longer selling the 123 distributor as he has had too many failures. He said he has had units returned that have failed on fitting and after a period of time.
Of course 123s are available from other suppliers, with and without vacuum advance.
I have one, with vacuum advance. I think I have now done about 300 miles with it – so far very pleased.

If this is the case why has no mention been made on here or in FP? Letting people buy a product that may have problems is surely something the club should be trying to prevent. Do we know what was failing? Electronics or mechanical?

Not me Martin. My mate with Healy 100. ( I have the Jolley breakerless system).
Yes, DW is Healys but the curve is completely adjustable from under the cap so can’t see why it wouldn’t work.
Really not my subject and outside my comfort zone so call DW for advice please!!!
(I do know they favour CSI over 123)

Chris T believes he had about a 10% failure rate of the 123 dizzy, including failures of items received as replacements for failures. He also says that the manufacturer is difficult to deal with and that he has tried other makes which seem no better.
The mainstream suppliers like CAS (whom Bazessex used) or Franssen (whom I used) will have sold more and have better data and will probably get a better response from the manufacturer – being local.
