Can anyone let me know if it is intentional to only have 3 of the fittings that hold on the brake shoes to have springs fitted. On both my front brake units the (I think) rear lower fitting did not have a spring on it. So either they lost it or this was intentionally left off.

Looking at it again though, this particular spigot has the hole for the split pin lower down, i.e. not designed for a spring. This is on both upper rear shoes. Just wondering that because it is a half shoes (only half a pad) is on this that the spigot is not under tension.

It looks designed this way but I cannot find any drawings for it.

I’ve always wondered why some Tractions have brake pins long enough for the springs, other have short pins with only the washers. An upgrade?

The spigot lengths are all the same. It is just the position of the hole for the split pin. I think his is by design.

                  All built up and ready.
