Introduction and Info request

Hi I am new to the forum just joined up today
I have a French 1951 11BL which I have had for about 7 years but only recently got it going well enough to enjoy using it with confidence.
It still has its original cast rear number plate 77 AD 17 and I was wondering if anyone can tell me where in France it came from or how to find out from the registration.

The last 2 numbers on the plate are the French ‘Departmente’ where the car was registered so yours is 17 – Charente-Maritime

Is there any way in France to get a cars history from the French registration like one can from the DVLA in the UK?
