Hi, I don’t know if anyone has any ideas on my 11BL:  I have had a metallic chafing noise for a while that appears on some (not necessarily full) application of steering lock and its intonation seems in line with one rotation of a front wheel.   Can be on down incline or level, but silent on straight ahead.  FNS has had new brake cylinder and shaft; FOS I have just put new brake cylinder and pulls up straight with seemingly no brake shoe issues. No other clickings, knockings from either side on turns, jus this metaliic chafing as if a spring was touching the drum on turn…

Has anyone heard of the drum catching the back plate on such application –  could wear on the stub axle allow this, although the hub was and is at the correct torque and all seems fine?

      Thanks Mike

Check for play in the wheel bearings as a starter.

        Cheers

Jack up using jacking point and check rotation on full lock.

If no sign of anything untoward and, if wheel bearings are fine, suggest remove drum and look for any indication of contact between drum and backplate assembly, i.e. “polished” area or similar.

          B….
