When my car was rebuilt, I painted the brake drums with a high temperature paint which I baked in the oven at 200 degrees as per instructions.

It did not last very long and my drums acquired a good rusty coating.

While resealing under wings I cleaned them up and applied a coat of Hammerite. They now look very smart but I have started wondering if I should have done that.

Have I increased the chances of brake fade from overheating drums or even introduced a fire risk|?

Having done some looking on the internet, it seems that Hammerite is the paint of choice for brake drums with no apparent negative comments.

If there are no negative comments on this forum, I’ll be happy.
