This may be very simple to answer.  I have a 1953 Normale and am replacing the distributor with a 123 electronic one.  So, have I loosened the bracket on the old distributor, disconnected the wiring and the manual advance retard cable and tried to lift out the distributor.  It moves a little but then stops.  Not seeing any other bolts to undo I have used a fair amount force but to no avail.  What am I missing?  Thanks

It could be the clamp catching on the body.  You may have to loosen the clamp screw a lot more and use a screwdriver or similar to force the clamp to open further to get enough clearance.

If you are trying to remove it complete with the clamp and advance assembly …… are all fixings undone – including the (often hidden) one under the advance plates and close to the block on the right as you look at it?
