Car  was a wreck  when I  got  so never saw it  with the  bonnets  on

Ive tried 3  “wrong” ways So someone out must know the correct  sequence!

Is the  chrome hinge specific as to  which end is which?? and the whole sequence has me mystified

      Thanks Chris

        Chrome hinge is reversible.

I struggle to envisage which three ways you have tried.  The hinge runs front to back and the leaves can’t be fitted the wrong way round …. so, what problem are you having?

First of all, assemble the wing halves to the hinge and there should be a stop at each end to keep the leaves properly located, front to back.  The two stops can only be tightened when the bonnet is positioned and correctly aligned with the grille and bulkhead but ideally need to be attached before the assembly is offered to the car.  If you don’t have the stops it is not the end of the world but you will have to take care evert time you close the bonnet.

There is an earlier post detailing removal and replacement of the assembly, see:
