Throttle ball and socket joints

Dear Traction experts, your advice please.

Both throttle ball and socket joints are worn. The main shaft thread is 6mm, but annoyingly the arm with the nut is 5mm.

You can pick up any number of 6mm ball and sockets on the internet, but they have a matching 6mm thread for the arm and nut.

‘Ah, just drill it out’ I hear you say. Easy on the carb linkage, but almost impossible on the arm lower down, as it’s almost inaccessabile!
