      Hi

Can anyone tell what model of traficator are fitted to a 1951 Slough Light 15 please and how they are mounted?

I have purchased a secondhand pair of SF34N’s from club spares but have nothing to mount them too so not sure if these are correct.

I’m told the SF80’s are an upgrade to the 34’s so would these fit?

I fitted a pair of SF80s from a Morris Minor which work well.

        Cheers Richard

According to Lucas parts lists, the SF80 was fitted to all models from 1946 to 1955.

From 1946 to 1952 the part number was 053982 and was black.

From 1953-55 (15) and 1952-3 (23) part number was 54044 and has the “staybrite” cover.

The SF80 is listed as a replacement for the SF40 and the SF 40 is described as “similar to the SF34 but shallow body”.

I am not sure what this means -SF34  might be “fatter”  or “deeper” in which case it may not fit.

SF35, SF43 and SF55 are all 8 1/4 ” the rest of the flush mounted ones are 7 1/4″ from pivot pin.

If you want the full parts lists I can email that section to you.

            Hi Roger

Yes, please email me the listing, it may also  be handy to see what types are fitted to what car when I go hunting for some.

            My email is nigel.watling@btinternet.com

I know the SF34 is the same length at 7 1/4″ as the SF80, I think I’ll make up a temp mounting bracket and see how my 34’s sit in the hole.

                Roger,

It sounds as if you have access to some very useful information for the owners of Slough cars which is not currently available in the Technical Library area of the Members Only section of the website.

If that is the case, please would you be prepared to allow the Club to add it to the Library?

                B…….

                  Hi Bernie,

                  Of course.

I only realised when I was replying to Nigel that this information was not in the library. I had somehow got the idea that it was.

I am not sure where I found it on the internet but will happily forward it all to the appropriate person. Should I send them to Bryan?

They total about 80 MB and are all set up for OCR searching in Acrobat Reader. I will email Bryan and see if he is happy to receive 80MB by email.

Roger is this the Lucas  ‘Trafficator’ parts list you refer to: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/books/pdf/L400e_sm.pdf

The rest of the parts catalogues are listed here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/books/lucas400e.htm – reading the ‘copyright’ page there is no issue with TOC making them available as long as a ‘credit’ is given to the source.

                      Hi David,

Yes, these are the documents. I found them and downloaded them ages ago and could not remember where from, but I am sure it was that site.

Thanks for confirming the copyright situation.

I am informed that the correct people to put them on the website are John Oates and Cleve Belcher so I will forward your comments and links to them.

                      Thanks for the information.

                      Roger
