            Ian,

That should make life a little easier – presumably 185×400 as you are in the 6 cylinder section of the forum.

I  can’t help you myself at the moment but if you are still looking next summer I can almost certainly pick some up from one of my French  friends.

Meanwhile, have you tried Bryn Hughes? He has an ad in the classifieds in recent issues of FP and I know he has some interesting stuff.

            Keep us posted.

                Ian,

I have found I do have a couple of French 165×400 rims left over from my 4-cylinder days.

I am located in Wellingborough, Northants – not exactly on your doorstep but a bit nearer than Bryn whom I suggested earlier.

Let me know if you are still looking and I shall take some pictures for you.

I also have a number of part worn tyres which will be well past their “best by” date as far as road use is concerned but ideal for a car in store when lack of regular driving can result in a set in the tyres.

                B…..

Hi, yes that would be great thanks, I am ok for part worn tyres.

                        Ian,

Pictures sent …. but one wheel only.  It transpires the other is a Slough rim.  Sorry.

I did a lot of “front-end” work and found a Slough rim and tyre as good as (if not better than) the various designs of hub-locking tools when undoing the main driveshaft nuts. Having a large clear hole in the centre, those nuts could be accessed with the wheel fitted and chocked and thus using the weight of the car to prevent the hub turning.

                        B………
