      Hello,

I have converted my 11BL from 6V to 12V. I have rewired the car with 8 fuses and would appreciate any ideas how I can reduce the voltage to the wiper motor and the fuel gauge.

      Thanks very much.

        Hello Joseph

why not use something like a DC 12V To DC 6V 10A 60W Step Down Power Supply Converter Regulator Module from fleabay.

          Hello Joseph,

As Nigel says converters are available on eBay and Amazon.

Bear in mind that, when installed on a car, the generator open circuit output voltage is considerably higher than 12V – about 16.5 volts and your converter could be subjected to this voltage.

There are units available with an input voltage range of 9-22 volts. That is the sort of thing that I would go for.

I am not sure what current the wiper motor draws. The fuel gauge will draw less than an amp.

If you find the fuel gauge going up and down while the wipers are on it might be worth putting in separate units for each item.

Mind you, if you are driving along, your fuel gauge will probably be going up and down anyway.

            hello Joseph,

I agree with Roger on the input voltage needing to cover a higher range than just battery volts, the one I mention above (item 133402837558) on fleabay has an input range of 9-28v according to the ad.

I have something very similar to David’s, feeding the wipers and fuel gauge. Works fine.
