Heater installation

Hi Garrett, I fitted a heater and this was my plumbing arrangement. I bought ‘T’ hose fittings to put into the flow and return from the water pump, a valve to shut off the flow to the heater which is mounted on the side pontoon and only just visible in the picture. I used a Clayton heater, still available, which has a better heat output than the original Smiths version with two doors. I found that having a variable rheostat on the fan speed was useful, the heat output can become too much. I fitted air bleeds in the smaller hoses in the cabin, but they turned out to not be necessary. If you would like more detailed photos please let me know. I got hold of a Citroen advance control lever, which I have mounted below the dash to turn the heater on and off.

Hi Garrett, I plumbed my Clayton heater similar to Jack, fixing it to the bulkhead using the bolts already there. The double hoses were then covered with spare matching carpet, held in place with narrow cable ties,
(which sink into the carpet) this blends in with the interior carpet and is hardly noticeable. The cable ties can be easily cut, should you experience a leak at the heater.
