      I have been re-reading through past decades of our magazine that the previous owner of my car left me and one article stood out and that was the way of calculating tyre age. (excuse me if you already know this).  I checked the age of my tyres and found that they are all over 20years old and should be replaced. Does anyone have experience of Blockley Tyres as opposed to those obtainable from Longstones as I am considering purchasing a set plus inner tubes from them ?

        I know nothing about Blockley tyres but I and I’m sure many others would be interested in hearing what they are like as compared to Michelins if you put them on your car.

          Hi Larry,

          I have done a bit of research and it depends on who it is writing comments about the tyres and their competition.  There are some who will say that they are not as good as Dunlop, Michelin or Pirelli but compare well with Avon.  On the other hand the Piston Heads website is full of praise despite a couple of reservations.  None of the comments or reports related to their use on Tractions so it is difficult to tell how suitable they may be.  The cost of five tyres and inner tubes is £870.00 and they are made in Indonesia using the most up to date methods apparently.

            I have a friend who fitted a set of Blockleys to his Swallow Doretti and was happy with the result. He drives several thousand miles a year and not slowly. However Michelins were designed for the Traction but the design dates back to the 1930s whereas the Blockleys are a modern design so who knows what is best.

              I have now ordered 5 new tyres and inner tubes from Blockley so will keep you all posted when I have them fitted and have broken them in!

                  New tyres have been fitted for a while now and seem to be fine although I have not done a lot of mileage.  The tyre fitters did have quite a job getting them on the rims.  Getting them to sit on the rear of the rim was straight forward but the step in the front of the rim is quite sharp and caused a problem.  I had to derust the inside of the rims and paint them before the fitters tried again.  Strangely one of the rims is slightly wider and has raised bump for the caps to sit .  Does anyone know what Citroen this rim may have come from ?
