The manual, operation 120.17, states …

Do not increase by more than 2 mm. the original drum dia. which is 255mm. (10 inch drums) or 305mm. (12 inch drums).

          Oops …

Correction to above – it is workshop manual operation 120.16c.

Thanks Bernie, I missed this first time looking in the manual, just awaiting delivery of internal micrometer from fleabay to now check.

Following on, I would think that the dimension that matters is the remaining thickness. I wonder what thickness 255 or 305mm equates to.

I suspect more of us have a 25mm external micrometer than have a 250mm internal one.

For those without access to a large internal mic, the solution is to adjust a pair of ordinary internal callipers to the id of the drum and then measure that setting with a suitable external measuring device.

However, as any necessary rectification will almost certainly entail seeking the sevices of an engineering workshop with appropriate measuring facilities, I would simply take the drum(s) there to be checked in the first place.
