Hi , need information on how to remove the front door window winder mechanism.  Does the glass have to be removed from the base metal channel, did try pulling it up out of the channel but would not move .
      Thanks André

        It’s a bit of a fiddle.

The glass stays in the channel.  You need to remove the screws retaining the winder mechanism and then manouver the whole hardware/window assembly to disengage the arms of the mechanism from the window channel.

          Thanks Again Berni,

Yes was a bit of a wiggle but got it out, also used a bit of wood batten as a wedge to keep the window up while getting it out .

the mechanism is worn so need to source a replacement.  If It’s going to take a while to get one I was thinking of using the one in the  passenger door,  do you know if the winder in the passenger  door will work in the drivers door.

No it won’t.   However, the one from the driver’s side rear door will fit the driver’s door!

Bizarrely (in my opinion) the winder mechanisms are interchangeable front to back on any one side, but the left and right sides are different.

I can look to see if I have one “in stock”.  Is yours LHD or RHD – i.e. do you want a left hand or a right hand winder mechanism?

Hi Bernie it’s a Slough right hand drive, drivers door. I also need the chrome winder  handle, if you’ve one going.

I’ve sent you an email with a video of what I have unearthed.
