I am the lucky new owner! It’s a nice car and will need a few small jobs doing, mainly due its lack of use lately. A few years ago I owned a 1951 maroon and black French car which now resides in Suffolk I think. The lure of a pre-war car proved too much, especially after seeing Reg Winstone’s, hence my purchase. Looking forward to attending some events in the future.

Although I’m the ‘lucky’ new owner, there was still a fair bit of work to do. I was warned that the brakes needed attention…they certainly did! We managed to reclaim all the wheel cylinders but the master cylinder was beyond redemption. Fortunately a 1960’s Peugeot item is the same but fitting it required a good deal of swearing and patience as you professionals no doubt know. Shoes were relined and a friend made a great hub puller for me; a little brake drum skimming was required. My trials with replacing the fan belt were resolved as described (and mocked) on the FB page, but as the radiator had to come out anyway it was not much of a task to remove the crossmember and make a bit more (strengthened) space to allow an easy roadside repair should it be necessary. At last, and nearly a year after I bought it, I’m enjoying driving the car…I quite forgot just how delightful an early Traction can be, especially compared to some of the vintage cars I’ve owned which are characterful, but challenging in several departments! Here’s a shot of my duotone car parked behind a friend’s Traction also of the same year – 1936..
