Hi there to all fellow club members. Does anyone know which model years DS/ID 4 speed gearbox can be made to fit in a traction 11B ? Thanks in advance, Garrett.

        Garrett,

To the best of my knowledge, all will mate with the block, using the “D” bell housing.  The problems arise with the gear linkages and driveshafts which will all require a lot of fettling and a degree of ingenuity.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Hi Garrett , I believe the id19 used much the same block as the traction up to 1965 . The early four speed box mated to this engine will fit the traction block but there’s an issue with the length of the bellhousing to be resolved . Also of course there’s drive shaft flanges , gear change mechanism , clutch operation to be considered .</p>
Roger Williams is the expert in this field , his articles in fp from some years ago are well worth digging out .

Hope this helps , look for a pre 66 gearbox .

            Cheers , Andrew Tweed .
