      Hi folks,

I’m a regular attendee at some H&H Classic auctions. This French Traction was on at Duxford. It seemed ok, though you never know the real details like driveshafts, engine, gearbox etc. There wasn’t much interest shown in it and it didn’t make reserve.

If you’d like to know more, maybe contact H&H (though they will no doubt take a cut if you do a deal).

If they got the ‘description’ right as a French ‘Normale’ it might have helped Norman and whilst it looks nice maybe the estimate was just to ambitious.

The description and images are still online https://online.handh.co.uk/m/lot-details/index/catalog/116/lot/44877/?url=%2Fm%2Fview-auctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F116%2F

Sadly, an incorrect description of this nature is typical of many Auction Houses – and not just in the UK.

In the past I have contacted several to inform them of glaring errors which a very simple bit of reasearch could have prevented – such as vehicles with big boots bonnet louvres and wipers below the screen being advertised as “pre-war”.

My aim has been to help by supplying a correct description but, with one exception only, they have been totally uninterested and content to go with the seller’s information.  I have now stopped bothering.

When a seller has got it badly wrong – as in this case – I believe it is a strong indication that he/she is not an enthusiast and that leads me to think it is likely to be somebody with no experience of the model and, probably, simply a dealer/importer thinking they are going to make a quick quid.

It’s a nice looking car but there are others that are just as good on offer for 3-4k less money.
