Sadly, an incorrect description of this nature is typical of many Auction Houses – and not just in the UK.
In the past I have contacted several to inform them of glaring errors which a very simple bit of reasearch could have prevented – such as vehicles with big boots bonnet louvres and wipers below the screen being advertised as “pre-war”.
My aim has been to help by supplying a correct description but, with one exception only, they have been totally uninterested and content to go with the seller’s information. I have now stopped bothering.
When a seller has got it badly wrong – as in this case – I believe it is a strong indication that he/she is not an enthusiast and that leads me to think it is likely to be somebody with no experience of the model and, probably, simply a dealer/importer thinking they are going to make a quick quid.
