I am in the process of getting my engine running for the first time and noticed petrol leaking from the pipe that sits on the manifold below the carb.

On the underside there is a hole so it has obviously had some form of attachment but what is my question?IMG_0601IMG_0602

        Kevin,

The pipe is designed to drain excess fuel which may have accumulated in the manifold, usually after several failed attempts to start and “flooding”.

It should not leak fuel when the engine is running.

There should be a further short length of copper pipe desdending and then a rubber tube extension passing between the block and jambonneau to ensure the discarded fuel is dumped as low down as possible.

I’ll try to take a photo soon.

        B….
