Hi all,
I just had a virus detected by Microsoft Defender.
Reported as “Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml”
The affected file was : C:\Users\Roger\Documents\TOCIndex4.3.zip
I am not sure whether the file arrived with the virus or whether that file was picked at random to carry the infection, by the attacker.
Successfully quarantined and blocked on my machine..
Has anyone else had any reports?
Regards,

Whereabouts did you download that ZIP file from?
I originally downloaded the file from the website a number of years ago and have used it numerous times over the years.
I think that the last time I tried to use it I got a message to request a new version. I really can’t remember the exact details (an age thing I suppose).
Anyway, I did request it but never received it.

I have just had another look on the site and it seems that I mis-remembered regarding the message. I think that the link no longer worked and I found the request link on the site under TechTorque in the members’ area.

Sorry if I was not clear.
I downloaded the original TOC index as a .zip file from the website in 2016. It was unzipped onto my PC.
I have used it from time to time since then.
The last time that I tried to use it, it did not work. I assumed that it had possibly been superseded so went to the site to see if there was something there. I found the link to Tech-Torque downloads with the form to complete to request the download link and instructions. I never received a reply. In hindsight, I suspect that the virus was blocking access to the files.
I have just rechecked my files and the original .zip is still on my machine and virus free. I have re-installed it on my PC and it works OK but only has a database going up to Volume 39 (2015).
I have rescanned after re-installation and it is clear.
If nobody else has a problem, I assume that this was a random file selection for a trojan attack.
I would still like to download the latest version to give me access to the latest articles.
I would also like to download the Slough Technical Notes.
I will fill in the request form again.
I hope this clarifies the situation.

Roger,
Thank you. I agree it does appear to have been a random incident but we shall continue to be vigilant.
Meanwhile, I regret to say you almost certainly already have the latest version of the TOC Index file as we have been unable to add updates for some considerable time now.
I am sorry for this inconvenience.

Bernie,
Thanks for letting me know that I probably have the latest version.
It saves me an 870MB download.
