What is this in the dash?

Does anyone know what this is in my dashboard? About 1cm diameter and 2cm deep. With +ve connection. The car is on 6v.

I’ve never seen one before but would make an educated suggestion it would have been a power source for a period accessory such as a screen demister or maybe a parking light.

Thanks. Someone on the FB group has suggested it could be a broken pull switch. I think I’m going to remove it and put an indicator tell tale there instead.

And James geddes says it’s a power take off , possibly for a lamp.

I’ve now seen your Facebook post with the picture of the whole dash.  There is already a parking light switch, above the indicator switch so that part of my suggestion was obviously incorrect.

Sounds like an indicator telltale will be a good use of the existing hole.

I unerstand somebody in the Motherland has confirmed it is the same as their screen defroster/demister socket.

I have a period 6V demister (somewhere) in my bits.  I shall look it out to see if it uses a similar power connection.
