Wheel nuts

Is there a torque setting for the wheel nuts checked on the car and they are set at 90 NM , also I need to get a jack, with a possible flat rear wheel there not much room to get bottle jack type in and a scissor type look a bit unstable any recommendations.

I am not aware of a specified torque for wheel nuts.  Original brass Slough nuts were notorious for the threads stripping.  If you have those I would recommend checking the threads carefully.

Last week we bought another lot of secondhand spares amongst which is an original jack.

It is a stubby, three-stage, bottle jack.  Two stages are operated by the handle with an additional third stage which is screwed out manually to suit the jacking point height  before placing the jack in position and then using the handle.

Bernie, Brass nuts on my wheels , they look ok, I will message Ian Harvey, if the jack is usable and not expensive I’ll buy it , not bothered about an original, I just need one in the boot for an emergency,  so anything will do as long as it fits.  No luck with my carb, now leaking from the butterfly shaft end also another fuel leak due to another fixing screw with a stripped thread, fuel all over the exhaust manifold, dangerous. I am going to change it, so looking for something newer, reliable and not involving a lot of change to associated parts.

As I said before, I am confident it is good, but after the winder disaster I shall be happy to supply it “sale or return” so you can be sure for yourself.
