Good luck. The DVLA can be difficult on the issue and break their own regulations. I have a 1961 Volvo PV544 which carries a 1965 registration number, probably from when it was imported. I tried to get an age related number and Volvo with help from the owners club gave me a letter stating the car was manufactured in 1961. The DVLA accepted this date and issued a new V5 giving a corrected date of manufacture but said the registration number was correct at the time of issue so I was stuck with it. It may depend on who you get and how they interpret the regulations that day. I suspect if I put a more modern registration on my everyday car I would be in trouble.

    Cheers
