I have just come across a Big6 H and was wondering if or how many are in the TOC?

i will be wanting to change the fluid to  LHM so any help on how to do this would be appreciated.

      cheers

        Mark,

Assuming it is a Big 6H, not a15/6H, the answer is probably less than the fingers (excluding thumbs) on one hand. I say probably because not all vehicle details are recorded on the membership list.

I know a Dutch member who did a well documented restoration of a 15/6H some years ago, including the conversion to LHM.  If he does not pick up on your post soon, I shall attempt to draw it to his attention.

There are other 6Hs in the UK but I don’t know which fluid they are using. With luck, anybody who is using LHM will see this and reply.

In the meantime, I think it might be worth trawling the interweb because I have a feeling my Dutch friend had uploaded some useful information in the past.

          Hello Mark,
for more details ask John Gillard. He told me, that 13 cars are known worldwide to him, five of them are runningHe is about to restore another Big6H. I had one, sold totally restored in 2019 by force of illness in my family to Guernsey. Pseudo-restorations used numerous parts from the DS series, so the hight adjustment in the rear. My car had chassis number 9557541 (from 1955) and engine nb. W2077, midnight blue. Changing the hydraulic liquid is a delicate job: All must be opened and perfectly (!) cleaned as the mixture causes great damage. (Same as mixing silicone and Lockheed brake fluids).
I don’t know, who is now the owner. Mark Harding could know about.
          Enjoy your wonderful car
          Hans

                  Mark,

That’s great, thanks for the confirmation. Never did poo smell so sweet!
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Of course Hans is right to suggest John Gillard is probably the no.1 authority on these cars but I don’t think he will be able to supply the level of pictures and written description of the rebuild I recall were produced by my Dutch contact.  I shall chase that up, fingers crossed it is still accessible.</p>
